

Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday February 5 at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan. Interment will follow. Visitation will be held from 5:30 – 8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Charles was born June 6, 1937 in Cross, the youngest son of Robert and Mary (Seay) Gentry. He lived in Iola until he was 6 years old then with his family moved to College Station and lived on the poultry farm at Texas A&M where his father worked. Charles graduated from A&M Consolidated High School in 1957. For eight years Charles served in the Army Reserves as a medic. He retired in 1997 after 27 years of service with Texas A&M University Bookstore.
Charles kept himself busy by doing things he loved like fishing, camping, cooking, gardening, and being outdoors. He was a talented artist who loved to draw and paint. He had a passion for his family genealogy. He enjoyed being with his family and organizing the family reunions. Charles was a loving husband, father, brother and grandfather.
Charles was the President of Cross Cemetery Association, a Master Mason at Brazos Union Lodge 129 and an active member and Deacon of Cross Freewill Baptist Church.
Charles is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Dalton R.E., Doyle and Norman Gentry.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Ilene Gentry of College Station; sons and daughters-in-law, Kary and Lisa Gentry of Spring, Kendall and Julie Gentry of Missouri City; grandchildren, Christina Drown and husband Sean and Christopher Gentry; great-grandson, Jarrett Drown all of Spring; sister, Ruby Gentry Watson of Bryan; sisters-in-law, Billie Gentry and Velma Gentry of Bryan; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
