

Born on a farm in Otoe, Nebraska on July 24, 1936, Dean became a dedicated employee of American Meter, Meyer’s Body Shop, American Propane, Koch Oil and Hogan’s Trucks Unlimited. While working at American Meter, he joined the National Guard and eventually joined the Air Force. He was also a firefighter with the Syracuse Volunteer Fire Department.
Dean was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Freeda Meyer; his sister, Mary Meyer, his brothers Alvin Meyer, Maynard Meyer and Donald Meyer; his grandson Robert Moses, III; niece, Patricia Meyer; nephew, Scott Smith.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years. Diana; his daughter, Deborah McCarroll; sons, Billy Barrier and Tracy Barrier, grandsons; Matthew Mendez, Dustin Pacheco, Darren Pacheco, Scott Johnson; granddaughter Christina Cox; sisters Wilma Brethouwer, Lois Groathouse and Irene Dietrick; and brother, Ralph Meyer; and many nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews.
Dean enjoyed playing Rummikub, Skip-Bo, dominoes and fishing. His favorite color was blue.
Dean’s family would like to thank Dr. Jennifer Culver, Dr. Kennon Wigley, Dr. Rajeesh Vasudev, Dr. Kelly Van Cleave, Johna and Nancy with Bluebonnet Hospice, Brandi, Maggie, Josh, Maya, Cindy, Dollie and staff with Broadmoor Court.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to your local American Legion and or VFW.
A Memorial Service for Dean will be held Wednesday, March 20, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Memorial Funeral Chapel, 1515 South College Avenue, Bryan, Texas 77801. Refreshments will be served following the service.
