Dixie Lee Goolsby

Dixie was born March 29, 1937 in Lufkin the daughter of Leslie and Eswa (Sessions) Bullock. She attended Stephen F. Austin State University where she received her Master’s degree in Education.

She married James B. Goolsby on August 30, 1957 in Lufkin. Dixie taught home economics in Sweeney, TX. for 2 years. She helped J.B. set up an office with State Farm Insurance in 1960. They moved to Bryan in 1963 and after adopting two baby girls Dixie truly became the heart of her home and settled in as a wonderful Wife and Mother. They were very active in the Twin City Church of Christ in College Station, Texas.

Dixie is preceded in death by her parents; husband, James “JB” Goolsby; and a brother, Doyle Bullock.

She is survived by her daughter, Lezli Goolsby; daughter and son-in-law, Dion and Tom Parlow; grandsons, Thomas, Dusty and Wyatt Parlow; and many countless friends.

Funeral service will be held at 10:00 am Thursday, July 13, 2023 at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan. Entombment will be held at 3:30 pm at Garden of Memories Memorial Park in Lufkin.
