
Dora E. Noto Lucas, 88, formerly of Bryan, passed away early Wednesday morning May 6, 2015 in Houston, Texas. Graveside Services are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Friday, May 8, 2015 at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Bryan with Deacon Andy Perrone officiating.
Dora was born July 17, 1926 in Bryan, Texas to Mary Banano and Charles Noto and grew up in the Steele Store Community in Brazos County. Dora was the youngest of three children, which include brother Tony C. Noto and sister Francis (Noto) Kikerillo.
Dora was employed at Bryan Air Field during World War II, where she met the love of her life, William (Bill) V. Lucas of Yonkers, New York. Bill was a B-29 Bomber Pilot who was transferred from the Philippines to the Bryan Air Field to teach pilots how to fly by instruments. Dora’s job was to start the planes in the morning and warm them up. They were married on January 31, 1945 and made Bryan their home. While raising her children, Dora was employed at Lone Star Gas, Brazos County Civil Defense, and Texas A&M.
She is preceded in death by her husband Bill, her parents, her brother Tony, and her sister Francis. She is survived by her children, Donna (Lucas) Avalos and husband Luis of Houston, and her son Richard W. Lucas and wife Marie of Bryan; and two granddaughters, Maria Avalos and Jennifer Lucas.
