Dorothy Jean Fleming has entered into rest with her Lord and Savior with her children at her side. She was known for her great faith in the Lord.

She was born in Sapulpa, Oklahoma where she graduated from Sapulpa HS.

She was preceded in death by the love of her life and husband of 39 years Eule Dean Fleming; parents, Henry and Cora Oaks Simpson; sister, Juanita; brothers, Grady and Leslie Simpson; daughter-in-law, Patsy Fleming and a great-granddaughter Leah Howard.

She is survived by son Dennis Fleming of Bryan; daughter, Deanna and husband Johnny Thornton of Bulverde; son, Dale and wife Kathleen Fleming of Fort Worth; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren.

She was a member of Parkway Baptist Church and longtime member of The Order of the Eastern Star. She was a strong believer and faithful Christian woman, a devoted mother and the Matriarch of five generations.

She was an 18 year resident of the Villas of Rock Prairie where she enjoyed reading and playing card games with her many friends. She was retired from Chase Bank in Houston where she worked in customer service. Previously she worked with classified documents for the Atomic Energy Commission in Albuquerque, NM. She worked for the Jasper County Tax Assessors Office and she managed a 400 unit apartment project in Southwest Houston.

One accomplishment she was most proud of was, she sang in a church choir for over 50 years, beginning when she was 14 years old. She will be greatly missed, but we look forward to seeing her again in the bye and bye.

A celebration of life will be held at Parkway Baptist Church at 1501 Southwest Parkway, College Station on Friday, April 30, 2021 beginning at 11:00 am. Dorothy will be interred next to her loving husband in a private ceremony in Cleveland, Texas.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the American Heart Association or to Parkway Baptist Church.

Aunt Dorothy was one in a million and loved our times together. I'm so grateful she was a part of my life and thankful for her memory of laughter, wisdom, and living the Christian life.

At age 14, I fell in love with Dorothy before I fell in love with her son, Dale. She was a beautiful friend, and I will cherish our memories together. I will miss her giggles and laughter and the way she always made you feel special. So sharp. So smart. So open to new things. She sent so many prayers our way, and we know she will continue to watch over us. With much love. Kathy

Oh sweet Dorothy Jean... My memories are filled with lots of laughter and smiles. Her smile and laughter was always contagious... She was always the prettiest woman in the room. Dorothy was the sweetest, most kindest grandmother I could have ever asked for... I know she will be in heaven, chatting with my mother Patsy...
Proverbs 31:25: “She is clothed with strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future.”
with love, Susan

Aunt Dorothy was my friend and a dear aunt growing up in Ok la. At grandma's house in Sapulpa Ok. She always created me with hugs and kisses. Dorothy always focused on me and my needs when we made eye contact. Aunt Dorothy was always a light in our lives. We were so honored that we got to share life with her and Uncle Dean and cousins. So many memories to keep in our hearts until we all get to heaven . I remember her joy and happy spirit. What an honor to have shared life with her. I will never forget her!

Grandma Dean, brought joy & laughter wherever she went. When she walked into a room, she lit it up! She was a beautiful woman, inside & out.

I will always cherish our fun times together, her visits to us in younger years, & our trips together. She was always so much fun to be with., & we had some great adventures.

My daughters & I will miss her so, so much. We are thankful that she is not suffering, & in her eternal home with her Savior.

Dorothy was always a shining star for me. She was full of Grace laughter and wisdom. She was beyond beautiful inside and out! She had many gifts from God that she shared with all those she met. I know she is at the feet of Jesus singing laughing and dancing-she will be missed-prayers and love to Dale-Deanna and Dennis and the rest of us who’s lives she touched so gracefully ❤️

I will miss Dorothy very much. She had a contagious laugh. She told me one time that she was going to have to find another group ladies to walk with because these old people walk too slow for her. Oh how she had so many funny things she would tell me. I would always leave happier than when I came to see her. She was a fantastic lady & I am glad the Lord let me be a small part in her life.
