James Marion was born August 23, 1944 at Bryan Hospital Bryan, TX to Claude Wayne and Kathryn Carter Rosier. He attended Travis Elementary, Lamar Jr. High, and SFA High School where he played football from 8th through 12th grade. He was baptized in 1954 after accepting Christ into his life at an outdoor revival at Reliance Baptist Church. He eventually began attending services with his wife Martha at St. Joseph Catholic Church. He always said that it didn’t matter the name on the church as long as you worshiped your Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
In October 1961 at the age of 18 he joined the US NAVY after boot camp and radio school. He went aboard the USS Intrepid CVS-11 where he was involved with the Cuban Missile Crisis. Then was transferred to Communication Division 16 staff, and later went aboard the USS Enterprise CVAN-65. He was honorably discharged in August 1965 as a Radioman 3rd class.
On March 27, 1976 he married Martha Dominik. She was his best friend, soulmate, and dance partner. They shared a beautiful life together for 42 years.
Throughout his career he was a heavy equipment operator, a licensed water well driller, and a member of IBEW 716 Electricians Union.
He was a member of Masonic Cedar Creek Lodge #300 AF&AM for 50 years and he recently received his 50 year pin.
He was an avid reader from an early age and was always engrossed in a book which would never take him more than a couple of days to finish. He loved history and could answer any question you had about any historical event, most especially history of past wars. He was very knowledgeable on many subjects including academic and life in general and was always using his knowledge to teach other people.
In 2004 he was able to fulfill a lifelong dream of moving to a farm. He always ran a small herd of cattle and meticulously tended to his pasture and grass. He was the happiest when he was outside on his tractor or mower and that’s where you could usually find him. He took so much pride in the appearance of his yard and property that two weeks before his death, while sitting on the front porch, he saw that his pasture and yard were not up to his standards. So even though it was a physical struggle to get on and off of the mower, with Martha’s help he got on the mower and mowed the grass.
James Marion always greeted people with a warm handshake or hug. He had a signature smile and laugh. When you were around him you couldn’t help but smile and feel loved and welcome. Even when he wasn’t feeling well, he would still greet everyone in his path at the Cancer Clinic (fellow patients and staff) with a smile and a hug. He was a constant beacon of joy.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Sigal S. Rosier and Louvisa Rosier, Martha Mae Carter and James Carter; his father, Claude Wayne Rosier Sr.; his mother and stepfather, Jim and Kitty Carll; and his daughter, Dawn Rosier.
He has left a legacy of loved ones who cherish his memory: his wife, Martha Dominik Rosier; his brother and sister-in-law, Claude Wayne Jr. and Patricia Rosier; his sister and brother-in-law, Kathy Sue and Ronnie McBride; his son, Robert “Kuder” Rosier; his step daughters and sons-in-law, Paula Kaye and Roger Adams, Beverly and Larry Young, his stepson and daughter-in-law, Drake and Jodi Josey; his grandchildren, Lindy Beasley and husband Chris, Crystal Schinzler and husband Mark, Thomas Ray and wife Genny, Brandon Scott, Amber Dockins and husband Justin, Matt Young and wife Brooke, Bryan Ray, Jordan Josey, Charli Josey; fourteen great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, countless special family members and friends; and his beloved dog Queenie.
