Jerry Luza Sr.

A Rosary and Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday July 7 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Ryan Higdon officiating.

Entombment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery at Msgr. Gleissner Mausoleum. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time at the church.

Jerry was born June 29, 1930 the son of John Luza and Fannie (Hanus) Luza of Bryan. He was involved in volunteer work at St. Joseph Catholic Church, a member of Knights of Columbus, American Legion Earl Graham Post 159, KJT and KJZT. He belonged to Age Managers and was a loyal adoration member. He served in the Korean War in Company A 56th Amphibious tank battalion. Jerry was a painter for F.L. Summers for 18 years and Bryan Independent School District for 30 years. He enjoyed fishing, yard work and loved his dog Tigger, a loyal companion.

Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, John and Fannie Luza; brothers, Johnny, Vince, Joe and Willie; sisters, Mary Luther and Frances (Krolczyk) Lenz.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Janet Luza; daughter and son-in-law, Janis and Gene Chmiel; son and daughter-in-law, Jerry Jr. and Elaine Luza; sister, Betty Matous; sister-in-law, Mary Ann (Luza) Stein; grandchildren, Matthew and Amy Chmiel, Cole Luza, Nicole (Luza) Taylor and husband Jeremy and Jason Olivarez; great-grandchildren, Lochlin and Callen Taylor; and numerous nieces and nephews.
