

Chuy Ramirez, 78, of Bryan, passed away on Sunday, December 27, 2009, at Sherwood Health Care Center in Bryan. Visitation will be from 5 to 10 p.m. Wednesday, with a rosary to be recited at 7 p.m., at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, December 31, at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Interment will be at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Bryan. Officiating is Reverend Monsignor John A. McCaffrey. Jesus was born in Cameron to Eleno and Bartola Ramirez. Chuy was a caring, husband, loving father and grandfather. He was a hard worker to provide for his family. Chuy was a lovable, humble man who always had a smile on his face. He was a die-hard AGGIE and Dallas Cowboy fan; win, lose or draw. He loved to dance, Cumbias, Tejano, and Boleros. And a good dancer he was. Chuy loved the holidays in particular Halloween. He would sit in his front yard and scare the children who would come trick-o-treating. He retired from the City of Bryan's water department after 33 years. All who knew him will miss him. Chuy was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife of 20 years, Mary Salazar Ramirez, his sister, Lupe Macias, his daughter, Maria R. Contreras, grandchildren, Daniela Nino and Luke Ramirez. Survivors include his wife of twenty-four years, Consuelo H. Ramirez; his daughters, Jesusa "Susie" and husband, Carlos Contreras, Mary Dolores "Lola" and her husband, Carlos Vasquez, all of Bryan; his sons, Jose R. Ramirez and fiancé, Samantha Spikes, Manuel S. Ramirez and fiancé, Yolanda Diaz, Rene S. Ramierz, Reuben and his wife, Marisol Ramirez, Jesus M. Ramirez Jr., and David Richard Ramirez; his brothers, Leonard and Janis Ramirez, Margarito and Elvira Ramirez, Julian and Cruz Ramierz, Pete and Mary Ramirez, Joe Ramirez, Ysidoro and Mary Rose Ramirez, Eleno, Jr. and Hope Ramirez; his sisters, Elena and John Cornejio, Margaret and B.J. Mayorga, Ruth and Albert Morales; and 23 grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. The Ramirez family extends their heartfelt thanks to the staff of Sherwood Health Care and Hospice Brazos Valley for the compassionate care given to Mr. Ramirez.
