

John E. Van Etten, Jr., 65, of College Station, passed away Tuesday, October 19, 2010 at the College Station Medical Center. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, October 21, at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan. Funeral services are
scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday, October 22, at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
John was born April 14, 1945 in San Diego, California to Movelda Holt and John Edward Van Etten, Sr. He grew up in Decatur, Texas and graduated from Decatur High School. John received a baseball scholarship to Texas A&M. He meet and married June Eubanks of Bryan, on October 20, 1969. John was a retired construction superintendent for the Tiller Corporation and a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church. He loved fishingn and hunting, and he loved the outdoors.
He was preceded by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, June Eubanks Van Etten of College Station; son and daughter-in-law, Clint and Amy Van Etten of College Station; daughter, Lori Price of Dallas; grandchildren, Holt and Hunter Van Etten of College Station; step-father, Ed Maddox of Decatur; sisters-in-law, Jane Ebner and husband, Charles, of Bryan and Toni Martinez of College Station; mother-in-law, Nora Lea Wasson of Bryan; and numerous other family and friends. Memorials may be made to St. Anthony's Catholic Church Building Fund.
