
OWEN ALLEE KELLEY, went to be with our Heavenly father, Sunday August 11, 2013 after a courageous battle for his life. He was the first born twin March 26, 1943, in Saragosa, TX to Oney A. Kelley and Emma Mayfield Kelley. He grew up in and around New Braunfels, Seguin, Cannon Lake, Guene and school in Victoria, TX. He wanted to go into the military at a young age. He entered the US Navy in 1960. He rapidly excelled in his military career. He was stationed on Midway Inland, then to New Iberia, LA with VT27, served on the USS Saratoga and USS Kersarge, went to ADR & ADJ school in Memphis, TN, stationed in Agana Guam in 1964 -1967 then back to Corpus Christi, TX with VT 27 again. Adak, Alaska was next tour of duty, then to NAS Oceana, Virginia Beach, VA Fighter squadron 103. Owen earned many Service Medals, Good Conduct Medals, Vietnam Campaign Medal, and Unit Presidential Citation Medal. He was honorably discharged in 1979. He loved “Dallas Cowboys” almost as much as his military career, fishing, talking about aircraft and reading lots of history. After his military service he worked on vintage aircraft in Galveston, TX at the Lone Star Flight Museum. He was involved in rebuilding the B-17 aircraft and was rewarded for his training and instruction in writing the maintenance manual for the aircraft. Owen was first married to Barbara Moore, to this union two daughters were born Jacquelyn Tammy and Sherri Lynn. He later married Belia Ovalle. Owen adopted Matthew and to this union was born a daughter JoAnna Emma. He is preceded in death by his parents, Oney & Emma Kelley, brothers Harold, & twin Oney, Jr., sister Patricia Powell. He is survived by his first love Barbara, daughters Jacquelyn and husband Richard Caldwell, Sherri, JoAnna and son Matthew, Grandchildren Richard Caldwell III, Amber and husband Nathan Ramirez, Christopher Caldwell, Reagan and wife Sidney Caldwell, Austin Lege, Autumn Lege, Ashton Lege, Nathan Rodriguez, Layla Baguio. One great grandchild, Brooklynn. Sister Barbara and husband Tom Kennedy, nieces Julie and husband Lee Schmidt, Susie, Arlene, Donna, and nephews HC, Jay and wife Lee Ann Kennedy. Numerous family, friends and shipmates. Military escort and full military services follow the service held at Founders Baptist Church, 24724 Aldine Westfield Road, Spring, TX 77373 at 11:00. August 19, 2013, Richard Caldwell officiating, military honors will be held at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veteran’s Memorial Drive, Houston,
TX 77038 with Richard Caldwell officiating. Flowers should be sent to Founders Baptist Church.
