It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Patsy Ann Eldred Astle, who left us on May 4, 2025, following a fall and a brief illness. Patsy was a beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. Born on January 5, 1939, to Walter and Hildegard Eldred, Patsy lived a life full of love, compassion, and selflessness. Her early years were spent with her older brother, Walter (Bubba) and Mary Katherine at their home in Bryan and their family lake house at Camp Creek.
Patsy was a devoted wife and mother, known for her boundless kindness, unwavering support and larger than life outgoing personality. Her children always knew she was close when they heard her laugh from across the store and she always made sure Larry, and the children had a home cooked meal on the table. She dedicated her life to her family, ensuring their happiness and well-being. Her warm smile and comforting presence brought joy to everyone around her.
She was passionate about square and round dancing, ballroom dancing, golfing, fishing and spending time at Camp Creek. Most of all, traveling with her husband and her family. She and Larry spent many years traveling the world. Her favorite locations were visiting her sister in Alaska, seeing Germany and Australia, and spending many nights cruising in and out of various ports. The best memories are of the 'death ride' in San Antonio and salmon fishing in Alaska as well as annual ‘pie day’ with the girls. She was an avid sports fan, always there to cheer on her grandchildren at any time. She loved watching sports, and you could always find her watching an Aggie game, no matter what the sport.
Patsy remained very close to her sister, from sharing a bed when they were little, to family vacations after they both married. She cherished her relationship with Mary and we are confident she will be watching over her from Heaven.
Patsy is preceded in death by her parents, Walter T and Hildegard Eckardt Eldred and her brother, Walter (Bubba) Eldred.
Patsy is survived by her loving husband, Larry Allen, her children Mike (Marita) Astle of Bryan, Melinda (Daryl) Morrison of Katy, TX, Susan (Frank) Schlett of College Station, TX and her grandchildren, Andrew (Vanessa) Astle of Bryan, TX, Kyle (fiancé Audrey Gabriel) Morrison of Omaha, NE, Shelby (Michael) Ibrahim of Dallas, TX, Stephen (Laina) Schlett of Fort Worth, TX, Macy (Peter) Hutchings of Richmond, TX and Skylar (fiancé Garrett Jordan) Schlett of Bryan, TX, along with 4 great grandchildren and another on the way, sister Mary Katherine (Robert) Ingram, sister-in-law Jean (Tom) Brown and numerous nieces and nephews, who all cherished her deeply. She leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness that will continue to inspire us all.
The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation for the love, care and compassion shown by the 'Tuesday night dinner group' who were always there to lend a hand or give her a reason to smile, Don and Cynthia Ivey who became lifelong friends, Messina Hof Wineries where Patsy and Larry are VIPs, and Priscilla Pruett, who took such great care of her the weeks prior to her death.
A celebration of Patsy's life will be held with a visitation scheduled for Thursday, May 8 from 5:00-7:00 PM at Memorial Funeral Chapel, 1515 South College Ave, Bryan, TX. She will be dearly missed but forever remembered in our hearts.
