Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday January 7 at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan. Interment will follow at Cross Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Richard was born March 8, 1944 in Madison County the son of David and Ethel (Crocker) Rice. He was an electrician, working for City of Bryan, Bond Electric and R&R Electric. He enjoyed being around people and was usually the life of the party, and could always make you laugh. He loved his family and friends especially his daughter Marie. Richard enjoyed sitting around camp fires and talking with friends and sitting on the porch with his family. If there was ever any repairs that you needed help with, Richard would never hesitate to come and help.
He loved to play shuffleboard on Sunday’s at Tabor Store, and usually won most of the games. Richard enjoyed going to Barbeque cook-offs, and loved to fish and hunt.
Richard is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Nettie Mikeska and Nancy Carvin.
He is survived by his daughter, Marie Lawson Arevalo of Bryan; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jimmy and Barbara Rice, Emory and Dorothy Rice; sisters and brother-in-law, Nita and Henry Taylor, and Lisa Rice; grandchildren, Courtney Lawson, Whitney Lawson, BreAnna Maddox and Jaeli Arevelo; and a great-grandson, Branten Kubichek.
