

Robert Allen Mauro, 58, of Winnsboro, TX, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, October 13. Born to beloved parents Mary Ann and Barney Edward Mauro on November 23, 1955, Robert was raised in Bryan, TX with his four siblings, Don, Sherry, Debra and Richard.
Robert attended Texas A&M University in College Station, TX before entering the military in 1975. As a member of the US Air Force he was stationed in Seattle, Washington and served two years active duty and four on reserve with the rank of E5 Tech Sergeant.
Robert’s Air Force experience led him to his professional career in the airfreight industry. After a successful sales career Burlington Northern Air Freight & CF Airfreight, Robert was hired to open the Austin, TX office of Team Air Express. In August of 1990, Robert met Laura Ladewig, who was working at Team Air Express, San Antonio. They married on November 28, 1992, and remain partners in the truest sense of the word.
Under Robert’s leadership, the Austin office flourished and prospered, frequently winning the Domestic Office of the Year Award. Robert served on the Team Board of Governors since 1995 and served as Chairman from 1999-2000. In 2001, Robert was inducted into the Team Air Hall of Fame, a most prestigious and well-deserved honor.
In 2007, Laura & Robert relocated to Winnsboro, TX, and Robert assumed the role of Team Air Express President, a position he held until 2014. He also served as Team Ocean Services President from 2011-2014. Additionally, Robert sat on the Team Worldwide Board of Directors, Team Ocean Services Board of Directors, and the Airforwarders Association Board.
Robert loved to hunt and fish. He relished weekend trips with Laura to their “Fish Camp,” in Seadrift, TX. He also loved to travel with Laura and their friends. Many a good time was shared on trips to Mexico, Costa Rica, Italy, Scotland and Greece. Robert’s personality was larger than life and he will be remembered for his big hugs, boisterous laugh and generous personality.
In addition to his wife Laura, Robert is survived by his brother Don Mauro, wife Kathy and their children, Angela, Kyle, Tanner & Ben; sister Sherry Mauro and her sons, Joseph & John; sister Debra Mauro Henson, husband Charlie and their daughter Megan; brother Richard Mauro, wife Lorrie and their children, Robert, Layla and Zackary; and step-sister Michelle Colwell and her husband Robby. He is also survived by his Ladewig family – in-laws, Ron & Kaye; sister-in-law Lisa; and brother-in-law Lane, wife Kelli and beloved nieces Rylan, Reese & Rowan. Robert’s many friends, co-workers, and godchildren who adored him will all miss him greatly.
On Thursday, October 16, in Bryan, TX, there will be visitation from 6-8pm, with a 7pm Rosary at Memorial Funeral Chapel. A funeral mass will be held 10am Friday, October 17 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Bryan, TX.
