

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Friday July 5 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church with Rev. Patrick Ebner officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday July 3 at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan with a Rosary service at 7:00 p.m.
Sam was born on August 12, 1920 in Brazos County, the son of Ben and Mary (Emola) Ponzio. He proudly served our county in World War II in the U. S. Army for the Military Police and was stationed in Fairbanks, Alaska. He worked many years at International Furniture Factory until he retired in 1985. Sam was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, the St. Anthony’s Men’s Club and lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus Msgr. J. B. Gleissner #1834. Sam loved fishing, hunting, gardening and watching Aggie sports.
Sam is preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Mary Ponzio; wife, Angie Ponzio; brothers, Pat, Luke, Louis and Joe Ponzio; brothers-in-law, George Koudelka and Carlo Lister; sisters-in-law, Lena Lister, Laura Ponzio and Jessie Lee Ponzio.
He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Samuel and Patti Ponzio, and Carl and Jenny Ponzio; four grandsons, Eric Ponzio, Thomas Ponzio, Cody Ponzio and Bradley Ponzio; brothers, Paul Ponzio and Johnny Ponzio; sister, Sally Lampo; sisters-in-law, Betty Ponzio, Charlotte Ponzio, Diana Ponzio, Rose Ponzio, Mary Koudelka and Willie Ann Luza; brothers-in-law, Mike Lampo and Anton Luza; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff of College Station Medical Center and Texas Home Health Hospice for their kindness and compassion for Sam.
