

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 30 at Santa Teresa Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 – 8 p.m. Thursday with a 7:00 p.m. rosary service at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan.
Susana was born August 11, 1937 in Leon, Mexico the daughter of Esteban and Natalia (Alfaro) Carpio. She and her husband opened El Toro Restaurant and Bar 51 years ago, one of the first Mexican restaurants in Bryan. Susana was a member of Santa Teresa Catholic Church and the Guadalupanas. She enjoyed dancing and going to the casinos with the Lucky 7’s group. She loved to be around her entire family.
Susana is preceded in death by her parents; husband Cresencio “Sam” Gongora Sr.; sisters, Isidra Carpio and Agapita Carpio; brother, Hilarion Carpio; and grandson, Alexander Ybarra.
She is survived by her children and their spouses, Cresencio “Boo” Gongora Jr. and Amanda Faught, Mary C. and J. Lynn Grace, Tony A. and Ruth Gongora, Annette and Reynaldo Rios Sr., Diane and Anthony Ruiz Jr., Delores and Anthony Celano Sr., Robert Gongora, Joe and Sylvia Gongora, Susana and Steve Sauceda; 36 grandchildren, 54 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
