She was so exceptional mother & friend. She will be missed.

Anita  A Tribute to Mom

     Growing up, I'm embarrassed to say that at times I was ashamed of my mom's faith.  Most of my friends were not Christians, and at times made fun of my mom and her faith and the way she raised me with so many rules and being so strict with me. As I grew up I started to appreciate my mother's Faith, and her strong belief in God and the stories she instilled into my heart and soul. I at times still got mad at her for “making” me go to church, but as I grew older it was I who wanted to go to church. The hard rules and strict ways made a huge nest in my heart, and as an adult I have cherished those memories and those rules she laid down for me to live by.  

     One of the people that would make fun of my mom, and was very hard on me in school, was Vikki Agee. She was at times a friend, and at times not, but as we both became adults she and I remained great friends.  She wrote me a letter several months ago, some of which I have written here. I wish I could have read this letter to my mom, to show her that her faith made SUCH an impression on people as we were all growing up, even if we didn't know it at the time. Vicki wrote to me:

    "Hey Tinker, I had no idea first of all that your mom was suffering from Alzheimer's. Second, I love your mom and have many memories of her, especially when she used to send us to the chicken coops to gather eggs!!  I can only say from my own experience with your mom that I know she had a spiritual awareness about her that was tangible; she left a spiritual imprint on my life, which I never understood until later in life when I understood spirituality.  Not too many people left that imprint on my life.  You have that same gift Tinker, you are your mother's daughter, and you leave those same imprints on peoples lives.  I love you and I love her as part of my own footprints in the sand."

     It was a great letter to receive, to know that my mom not only made an impression on my life but on the lives of my friends.

     I am the youngest of her 4 children and the hardest of the 4 to raise. I am not sure how she survived me at times, but she never gave up. She never let me feel unloved no matter what I was going through, and she was always there for me. I will hold onto those memories forever, and am so grateful to have had the love of a mother like her and I am very proud to be her daughter!!!!

     I miss you and love you mom……I'm still looking for my rainbow!!!

Leah Asay   Letter to the family

I wrote this at least 10 times trying to make it sound just right, but dang it, I just have to go with what I know.

To the family of Anita: 

In the time I spent with Anita, we had hours of time to just sit and talk.  She told me several stories and little things about her life.  I think there are a few things you should know, and maybe you already know.  

Her children…  She had told me more than once, in more than one way, how proud she is of all of you.  The love she has for each and every one of you is great and true.  Now, knowing most of you a lot better, I can see why she is so proud.  I think, however, that she would give you all the credit for who you are and what you have become.  I, myself would have to give Anita most all of the credit.

Anita – strong-willed, kindhearted, and caring – and we all know the most beautiful eyes and smile of any ever seen.

I have seen her strengths in each of you girls.  I can tell her teachings to you were not done with anger and fright, but by examples.  That she set the lessons only a mother can teach, by every day being just that, your mother. The caring tenderness when your tummy hurt or your nose ran. That familiar wag of her finger to just let you know she wasn't in complete agreement, but still giving you the cushion to fall on when you stumbled.

I have no doubt she is looking at me now, wagging that finger to let me know that those talks we shared were private and not meant to swell your heads.

Be proud to be her children.  She is so proud to be your mother.  That is how her legacy lives on, in the actions and hearts of you, her children. 

Okay, now a little something to you Lou, her husband.  Let me say that Anita could not have found a more devoted, unconditional and non-judgmental love anywhere.  Every time you entered a room where Anita was, you greeted her with a direct look and always a smooch and a loving comment. I am sure to you this seemed like nothing, but those around the two of you could feel the passion and love you shared with each other. Something that is hard to find these days.  The love, devotion and honor you have for Anita stood out so strong. It is something that puts you one above all the rest.

I need to say thank you for making me a part of your family. Thank you for what you have given me to keep in my heart.  Thank you for the patience you have taught me, and most of all, thank you for showing me that there are still gentlemen left, and that integrity is something to stand for at any cost.  Thank you Lou, Anita and family for this opportunity to be a part of this great love.  Please keep me close, as I know you will.  You have made me feel welcome in your family as I feel in my true family.  I love you all sincerely and completely.

From Donna     A Tribute to Mom

As a child I remember some of Moms favorite things.  She grew purple irises and asian poppies.  She was a wonderful cook. I remember watching her make Holiday stuffing from scratch.  The homemade cornbread with celery and onions smelled divine. She'd make fudge in a cast iron skillet and beat it by hand until it lost its shine.  Sometimes she'd make fruitcake as well. I've seen her make butter from cream. We had fresh milk and our own beef and spring water.  

She ordered us books to inspire us and we are all avid readers. She allowed me to speak my mind on "some" occasions and we debated our thoughts. 

Thanks to our dog, Ink Spot, we once inheirited puppies. Mom named them Lady Jane and Gentleman George. They were the cutest Beagle Poodles you ever saw. 

She had a small gift shop in the home and she sold Avon as well. 

In the evenings she'd play her albums.  I remember Henri Mancini, Bing Crosby, Herb Albert, Tony Bennett, Roger Miller, John Gary, Eddy Arnold, Perry Como, George Beverly Shea and Bobby Vintons " Roses are Red".

She even had a wild bird as a pet.  It sang beautifully.  

Besides my brother, Gary and I , I got to see Mom's joy at raising our two younger sisters, Kelly and Anita  

 Mom was a great grandmother.  She traveled from Arizona to Ohio when her grandson Isaac was born.  Once, for a surgery she came to my house and cooked and cleaned for a week.  She had me writing scriptures for healing.

She loved her grandchildren- Linzy, Isaac & Tiffany, and later the great grandchildren-Phoenix, Isaac Jr. & Kaleb. 

She also was grandmother to the Eaton Family (John, Jim, Prestine, Kay'Cee and Brandy)and to the Marsaw family(Joseph, Kyle, Neicha,Joshua,Jeremy & Mia.) 

She was Mom to our spouses also. 

One of her best qualities was her forgiving attitude.  She never complained or criticized.  She was loved by many far & wide. Most importantly, she loved God. Her home spoke volumes of the love of God.  In books and pictures and her prayers.

She was and is- "Our Perfect Mom" and until we see each other again.  We Love YOU !!!
