Jon Douglas "Doug" Morrison

Jon Douglas (best known as Doug) Morrison, age 69, a 10-year resident of Bullhead City, Arizona, passed away peacefully in the company of his family, on Wednesday, January 11, 2012, in San Dimas, California, after fighting a brave battle against Pancreatic cancer for five years.

Doug was born July 3, 1942, in Sioux City, Iowa, to parents, Joseph and Inez Morrison. He graduated from Central High School in 1960. On December 1, 1961, Doug married his high school sweetheart, Nancy Ann Church, also of Sioux City, Iowa. In 1962, they moved to California and settled in Lawndale, where they raised two daughters, Sheri and Tami. Doug was employed by Trans World Airlines for 35 years and also had his own business, "Doug Morrison Painting" for some 40 years in the South Bay area.

Since retiring to Bullhead City in 2002, Doug loved playing Keno at the Riverside Casino in Laughlin with his wife, and was known to his friends as "Nancy's Banker." An avid Lakers fan, Doug enjoyed his friends, playing golf, fishing, traveling, Sudoku, relaxing in his swing and playing PS3 with his son-in law.

This past December 2011, Doug and Nancy celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a surprise party given by their two daughters. Doug was a very devoted husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend. His positive attitude and sense of humor set him above the rest.

Doug was preceded in death by his father and wife's parents.

Doug is survived by his wife of 50 years, Nancy; two daughters, Sheri of Bullhead City, Arizona, and Tami (Jaime) and step-grandchild, Alyssa of San Dimas, California; mother, Inez Morrison of Sioux City, Iowa; sister, Brenda (Mike) Christie of Alba, Texas; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Barbara and Al Laven of Bullhead City, Arizona; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members.

A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. (Ariz./MST) or 2:00 p.m. (Calif./PST) on Friday, February 3, 2012, at Dimond & Sons Silver Bell Chapel, 2620 Silver Creek Rd., Bullhead City, Arizona
