Pete Zaldain, age 97, a resident of Bullhead City, Arizona, passed away peacefully in his home on Saturday May 31st, 2025, surrounded by family. He was born in Fruita Colorado in 1927, fourth of ten children to an immigrant father, Valentine Zaldain of Spain and mother, Mary Zaldain of Colorado.
He enlisted in the US Navy in 1945 and served as a Seaman Second Class on USS YMS-325, a minesweeper stationed in San Diego, California. He was honorably discharged in 1946.
After leaving the Navy, he met Mary Stuart from Grand Junction, Colorado and married her in 1948. Shortly thereafter, they moved to California and started a family. He worked as a Tool and Die maker and later semi-retired to Bullhead City in 1988 where he helped his friends and neighbors with handyman jobs. Pete and Mary were married for 68 years when she passed away in 2017.
Pete is survived by one son and two daughters, Robert Zaldain, Victoria La Ferla and Sherrill Tedino; Six grandchildren, Chantelle Koch, Robert Zaldain Jr, Vincent Tedino, Christopher Zaldain, Natalie Tedino, Michael Zaldain; two great grandchildren, Cameron Ough, Alexis Ough: and by numerous extended family and friends.
Pete was known for his love of social gatherings and his loyal, if sometimes stubborn, nature. Though set in his ways, he welcomed his family with open arms and unwavering love, reminding us that true acceptance transcends opinion.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Arizona Honor Flight Program that he had been honored to participate in.
