

Arvie was born December 10, 1926 in McCook, Nebraska to Otto and Sarah (Geihsler) Hesterwerth. She grew up in a farming community with her predeceased siblings Archie, Margaret, Annie, Chester and Robert (Bob). During the early 40s she was in charge of candy, cigarettes and magazines at the McCook airbase and then transferred to Denver, Colorado with the same job.
She moved to Los Angeles in 1947 and married Daniel Jaffee who she later divorced. The couple settled in Burbank, California in 1949. In 1950, Arvie joined the retail department store Ohrbachs and retired in 1987 as a manager and shoe buyer. During this time, she was also actively involved in her children, Jamie and Heidi’s, school programs from PTA president to Cub Scouts, Blue Birds and Camp Fire Girls troop leader.
Arvie remarried in 1991 to her second husband, Robert Archer, who passed away the same year.
She enjoyed traveling with her family, cooking, playing bingo and attending the horse races. She always said, “I enjoy every minute of each day and I never put anything off for tomorrow.”
Her daughter Heidi Jaffee Trotta, grandchildren Eric Trotta, Natalie Figueroa, grandson-in-law Steven Figueroa, great grandchildren Kayla and Cameron Figueroa, sister-in-law Joan Hesterwerth and several nieces and nephews as well as many close friends she called family, survives her. Her son James Michael Jaffee passed away in 1992.
