

Joseph G "Joe" HurleyAged 82, passed away after a long illness, at home in Hollywood California on November 18, 2009. He was born January 5, 1927, in Jeannette, Pennsylvania, the fifth of Andrew and Marie Hurley's seven children. Joe attended Saint Vincent Preparatory School and Saint Vincent College in Latrobe, Pennsylvania, where he excelled in debating. Following service in the U.S. Army in WWII, he received a Juris Doctor degree from The Catholic University of America School of Law. In 1949, he married Clara Tebbets, and in 1950 they moved to Southern California, where Joe began a long, successful career in North Hollywood as a personal injury attorney and real estate developer.Among his numerous philanthropic, civil and cultural organizational activities, Joe served for more than 30 years as President, as well as a Director of, the Ralph M. Parsons Foundation, was a driving force in establishing the Community Redevelopment Agency/Los Angeles in North Hollywood, active in the North Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, and was a member of the California State Bar Board of Governors and other state and federal judicial committees.He is survived by his wife, Clara; and two sisters, Helen Hurley McKenna and Barbara Hurley Schanberger.
