It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Wife, Mother and Grandmother, Andreina Artuso. She will be lovingly remembered by her devoted husband of 51 years Beniamino, her loving children Giorgio (Courtney), Mark (Laura), Joseph (Josie), Sylvia (Stefano) and her cherished grandchildren Giulia, Adriana, Emilia, Catia and Nicola.
Andreina was born in Crespano del Grappa, Treviso on January 19, 1949 to parents Paolo Farronato and Angela Favero, and was the youngest of ten siblings. She fondly shared stories of her youth in Italy and of her family in both Italy and Australia. It was in 1971 that she was introduced to her future husband, and love of her life, Nino. After months of exchanging telegrams, she bravely left her home, her family and friends and moved to Vancouver to marry Nino. They wed at Our Lady of Sorrows Parish on August 28th of that year and settled in to their first house on Dundas Street in East Vancouver. Despite the many hurdles they faced, together they worked tirelessly side by side and built a beautiful life for themselves and their children.
Andreina’s greatest purpose and source of joy was her family. She adored her husband and put him, her children and her grandchildren above herself and all else. Her wry sense of humour and welcoming smile made one feel like part of the family. She enjoyed the presence of family and friends and often treated them to her delicious home cooked meals. You never left her home uncared for as she would insistently make sure you were well fed.
Andreina’s strength and resolve over the last few years have been nothing short of humbling. We would like to thank all of those who cared for our beloved Andreina in her moments of need. To all the doctors, nurses, care aids and support workers, we are forever indebted to you for the compassion and love you showed to our mother. Mostly, we thank you Dad for being there for Mom EVERY day, you were her source of strength.
Mom, your resilience, perseverance and love will remain a part of us for eternity. Thank you is not enough. May you Rest In Peace and know you will be in our hearts always.
In lieu of flowers, we kindly ask for donations to be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation in her memory.
