She was born on July 9, 1924 in Hong Kong.
Mrs. Lee attended True Light Middle School and later became a board member of Hong Kong True Light Middle School Board of Trustees before becoming the Chair. After high school graduation, she furthered her study and graduated from Beijing Jiaotong University (北京交通大學) where she met her late husband Kwong Yee Lee. They were married in 1950 and then had their son Andrew.
Anna is survived by her son Andrew Lee. She is also survived by her daughter-in-laws, Monica Bui and Corliss Suen Lee, three grandchildren: Valerie Luu, Alex Luu and Trevor Pham and her goddaughters Marinda Sum and Anita Szeto, as well as their children.
Before her retirement, Anna worked as a Senior Social Work Officer for the Hong Kong Social Welfare Department, where she was in charge of several welfare institutions.
She switched careers at the age of 35 from accounting to social work because of her desire to help others. As part of her career transition, Anna went to England to complete a master’s degree in Residential Childcare. For the next 20 years, Anna enjoyed a successful and rewarding career. She was well respected and loved by many.
After retiring at age 55, she moved to Canada and spent her golden years in Burnaby. She was an avid traveler and visited places like Jerusalem, Egypt and many other countries around the world.
Anna lived a vibrant, active and healthy lifestyle -- she got up every morning at 6:00 am, read the Bible, prayed and practiced yoga for an hour. In recent years, she enjoyed dim sum at Jade Seafood Restaurant nearly everyday, which she would follow with a two-hour walk around Metrotown shopping mall. She was still able to drive her car to the mall as recently as this past January.
Most recently, her fashion sense was documented in her granddaughter Valerie’s website Chinatown Pretty. Thousands of people responded positively to her vibrant style and glowing personality.
