Anne passed away peacefully in her sleep with the love of her life, Magnus by her side on October 8th, 2015, at The Buchanan Lodge Rest Home where they lived together.
Anne was born in Roblin, Manitoba on August 27,1928. She was one of 12 children born to Prokop and Anna Yasinsky.
Growing up on a farm, Anne developed a work ethic that was second to none, which she maintained her whole life. At a young age, Anne left the farm to look for work starting in Winnipeg, continuing on to Edmonton and later ending up in Vancouver.
After finding work in Vancouver, Anne met Magnus, the man she would marry and spend the rest of her life with. They were married on November 6, 1953. Anne and Magnus had four children, Pamela, Allan, Glenn and David.
Anne devoted her life to her children, while Magnus would be away working as a fisherman, Anne would run the household with grace and ease, not only caring for her four children, but preparing meals, gardening, mowing the lawn, doing laundry, hemming, mending, or sewing all their clothes. There was nothing she couldn’t accomplish.
While the children were in school, Anne would also waitress part time at various restaurants to help out her family.
Her three boys were very involved in hockey. There was always somebody needing a ride to a practice or a game. Their busy schedules and dedication to the sport proved to be very rewarding, as one of her sons became a very successful NHL hockey player.
Anne and Magnus always had an open door policy, anyone who came through their threshold was treated like family.
In fact Anne was famous for serving her salmon sandwiches, she became the first family member to have an article written in Sports Illustrated for these wonderful sandwiches, she fed nearly the entire NHL! To this day people still recall her delicious salmon sandwiches.
After Anne retired, she became involved in square dancing and clogging. Anne and Magnus continued to travel during her retirement years, often with her square dancing group.
Also during their retirement years, Anne and Magnus became proud and loving grandparents to four grandchildren; Peter, Alex, Veronica, and Autumn.
Anne enjoyed a full life and her family meant everything to her. She was such a positive woman who never had a bad thing to say about anybody. She touched many people in her lifetime, those who knew Anne felt blessed to have met her because she had such a kind, beautiful and gentle soul.
Anne is survived by Magnus, her loving and faithful husband of 63 years, her brother Gus, her children Pamela (Joseph), Allan (Cheryl), Glenn (Janne), David, and grandchildren Peter, Alex, Veronica, and Autumn.
While we are mourning our loss, we are also celebrating her life.
Thank you for all the wonderful memories, Mom.
During the service the family welcomes guests to tell their own stories about Anne.
