It is with profound sadness we share that Anton, our loving husband and father, passed away on July 31st at age 82. He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Zakiye, and his siblings, Rose (Francis), Marie (Clarence), and Shukri (survived by Salwa). Anton leaves behind his beloved spouse, Siham, to whom he was married for over 42 years, his daughter, Giselle (Paul), son, Joseph, brothers-in-law, Fouad (Jeandark) and Hanna, sister-in-law, Matilda (Oscar), many nieces and nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends.
Tony was born in Palestine and lived in Lebanon until he immigrated to Canada in 1970. In many ways, he lived a remarkable life in which he faced many obstacles, yet through his endless determination, he overcame these and lived a happy life, always putting the needs of his family and those he cared about first. His selflessness, generosity, and kindness are gifts that were bestowed on all who knew him. Being an extremely disciplined and hard-working, skilled (the best!) heavy-duty mechanic, his passion for his trade was evident to all who knew him. In fact, he often told us that doing something you love means getting up every day and being excited about going to work, even if that meant getting up at four in the morning.
A funeral mass will be held on Friday, August 13th, 2021 at 1:30 pm at St. Jude’s Parish, 3078 Renfrew Street. Following the service, burial will take place at 3:15 pm at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, 3789 Royal Oak Avenue, Burnaby, BC. However, due to continued concerns about the spread of COVID-19, we ask that those who attend wear a mask. The service will also be live-streamed. Please contact Giselle at [email protected] if you wish to attend the virtual, live-streamed service. At this time, no reception is planned. A celebration of life will be held when it is safe to do so.
We would like to thank the staff of Evergreen Community Health, VGH, and Cottage Hospice for providing compassionate care and support to Anton and his family.
In lieu of flowers, donations toward research for treatment and a cure for CJD dementia may be made to the Alzheimer Society or to support hospice care, donations may be made to the Bloom Group.
