Antonietta Maria Luongo

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Antonietta Maria Luongo on September 13, 2025, at Burnaby Hospital. She was born on May 17, 1947, in Futani, Salerno, Italy. She moved to Vancouver, Canada and met and married the love of her life Francesco Luongo on June 21st, 1969.

Antonietta was an amazing daughter, sister, wife, mother, nonna, aunt, cousin and friend. She loved all of us unconditionally. She was the matriarch of her family, and her enormous influence will continue.

Antonietta is survived by her three sons and their wives Dr. Rolfe Luongo (Nella), Dr. Tony Luongo (Jennifer) and Dino Luongo (Antonietta) and seven grandchildren, in order of birth, Claudia, Allessandra, Isabelle, Anthony, Massimo, Francesco and Stefania as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends in Canada, US, and Italy. Antonietta was predeceased by her husband Francesco Luongo, parents Antonio and Assunta Merola, brothers Raffaele, Sabato, and Giuseppe and sisters Giuseppina and Anna.

She will be remembered for her beautiful smile. She was kind, compassionate, and selfless and always put family above all else. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Visitations for family and friends will be held at Bell Burnaby Funeral Chapel, 4276 Hastings Street, Burnaby, BC on Monday, September 22, 2025, from 6:30 to 8:00pm. Mass of Christian Burial for Antonietta will be held on Tuesday, September 23rd at St. Helen's Parish at 11am, 3860 Triumph Street, Burnaby, Entombment to follow at Ocean View Burial Park - South Mausoleum, 4000 Imperial Street, Burnaby.
