Antonio Pollio passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 6, 2016 at the age of 84 years old. Antonio Pollio arrived in Canada in 1966 with a single suitcase, no knowledge of English; only with heart and ability in his hand. A man capable of accomplishing anything and if he didn't know it, he would learn it quick and always used the art of resourcefulness to the very best. Whether it was constructing a 4 foot Eiffel Tower or the Tower of Pisa with balsa wood and toothpicks; to growing the most elaborate gardens for himself and his neighbours: Tony was a giving man. Sharing, caring and passionate and dedicated to his family with providing the best that he could. A man with virtue and dignity, Antonio put others first and more than once gave the jacket off his back and even his last dollar to those in need. That was Antonio Pollio. Remembered for speaking his mind, being honest; with a sharp memory for details: a memory that stayed sharp until his last breath. Antonio is survived by his wife Elide Pollio; son Silvio Pollio; daughter Nadia Pollio; cherished grandchildren Ryan and Daniel.
A viewing will be held at St. Andrews Parish, 480 East 47th Ave, Vancouver, BC on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at 10:00 am followed by a funeral mass at 11:00 am. Entombment will follow at Ocean View Burial Park at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Antonio to the B.C. Lung Association.
