

Avelino was born to parents Antonio Palma & Carma Viegas, and his birth was registered on February 6th 1936 at Sta. Catarina, Algarve, Portugal.
He finished high school where he learned welding as a trade and it would serve him well later in life.
Avelino was proud to join the Portuguese Airforce and achieved the rank of 1st Officer. His platoon was in charge of a radar station in Sierra de Estrila, Portugal.
He was married to Maria Angela Antunes of Painho, Pedrogao Pequino and had a son named Antonio Avelino Palma.
Avelino came to Canada in 1968 followed by his family in 1969. His welding skills helped him in building notable projects, as BC Ferries C-class ferries and Swangard Stadium in Burnaby.
He proudly sponsor two of his own family members and three of his wife’s family members in coming to Canada.
His hobbies were making wine with his father and son. He loved learning electronics by building his own multimeter & oscilloscope. And his passion was trying to win the 6/49 lotto.
Avelino is survived by his wife Angela, son Antonio his grandchildren Nigel and Jennafer and his great grandchildren Zyra, Rayne, & Maxwell.
Funeral memorial services will be on April 14th 2026 at 10:00am for the viewing followed by the mass, at: Our Lady of Fatima Portuguese Parish 1423 E 13th Ave, Vancouver, BC, Canada, V5N 2B5
Entombment will be at 12:30pm, at the South Mausoleum, 2nd floor, Ocean View Cemetery, Burnaby.
