Ben Kawaguchi

Ben Kawaguchi passed away peacefully in Calgary, Alberta at the Foothills Hospital on Sunday, August 23, 2015 at the age of 59 years. Ben was born in Vancouver on November 15, 1955. He attended William Cook Elementary School in Richmond British Columbia, graduated Simon Fraser University BA with Honors, Athabasca University MBA with Honors. Ben started a teaching career in Richmond and moved to Kispiox British Columbia and became a Principal at Kitsegukla School. Married his wife Judy on August 28, 1981, moved to Pincher Creek, Alberta where he worked as a Director of Education for Peigan Board where he was an Honorary Chief. Moved to Calgary, Alberta. His biggest career passion was working and helping Aboriginal people. His life’s greatest achievements were the births of his two sons and his granddaughter. His life’s challenge was when he was faced with Colon rectal cancer. Ben Kawaguchi is lovingly remembered by his wife Judy; sons Shin and Ko and his dog Kipper; Mother Tomiko 94 years; brothers Ren and Jun; sisters Phyllis Lily, Julie and Mary. He was predeceased by his father Shigeru.
