Mrs. Bertha Margaret Mathisen

May 25, 1919 – November 1, 2011

Peggy was born in Toronto, Ontario and passed away peacefully at her home in Vancouver. She was the beloved wife, mother, grandma, and great grandma to 69 of us and she will leave behind a legacy of family love that we will all miss and cherish. She was married to her late husband, Arne for close to 55 years, before his death in 1998. With their two eldest daughters, Arne and Peggy moved into their home on Angus Drive in October 1946 and we are so happy they were both able to realize their dream of being at home until the end of each of their lives. Peggy was the loving mother to 7 - Anne, Jane, Peter (Janice), Mary (Rod), Chris (Janet), Bill, and Barbara (Stewart); grandmother to 26 – Deborah (Kevin), Candace (Jamie), Drew (Claire), Ben (Audra), Sarah, Rachel, Molly (Michael), Megan (André), Kate (Andrew), Beth (Nick), Emily, Joanna, Alexandra, Grace, Nova, James, Charlotte, Andrew, Nancy, Steven, Laura, Jack, Elizabeth, Matthew, Carolyn, Mitchell and Elliott; and great grandmother to 22 so far – Olivia, Thomas, Oscar, Max, Simon, Tyler, Keely, Henry, Avery, Melody, Nora, Fiona, Roger, Eden, Stella, Willem, Penny, Mae, Sally, Peter, Maggie and Daisy. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to all of those who cared for Peggy in her last days. Peggy’s service will be held at Ocean View Burial Park at 4000 Imperial Street in Burnaby on Wednesday, November 9th at 1:30 pm.
