With sorrow and profound gratitude for a life well lived, we announce the passing of our beloved Chuck. Born to Lucy and Fred Klingensmith in Erickson BC, on February 19, 1920, his 99 years were distinguished by great love, great learning and a steadfastness exceeded only by his faith. After finishing Grade 13 in Creston, BC he attended Normal School in Victoria then spent a year teaching in Renata, BC. Following that, he moved to Vancouver to train as an airframe mechanic at Boeing, then bombardier and navigator with the RCAF. Upon discharge, he attended UBC, earning his B.SC. in Mechanical Engineering in 1949. That year he also married the love of his life, Mary McDonald and moved to Peterborough to begin working as Plant Engineer at Canada Packers. Chuck and Mary returned to the Vancouver area with children David and Dianne in 1954. Settling in Burnaby, two more children, Wendy and Janet were added to the family. Chuck spent his entire career working for Canada Packers until his retirement at 65. Always active socially and in serving at his church Alta Vista, in 2005 Chuck and Mary moved to Elim Village in Surrey when Mary’s health began to fail. In caring for her he became a living example to all who knew him of what love truly looks like. He passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus and his darling Mary on February 28, 2019. He is survived by his four children, ten grandchildren, and five great grandchildren.
