It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of 98 year old Charles Louis Saboe. Born in Kipling, Saskatchewan, Charlie was the 2nd youngest of seven, two brothers and four sisters. Charlie was 14 when the family moved to BC settling at Vedder Crossing to farm the land. It was there that Charlie learned many life skills that molded him into the self-sufficient person he became. After serving Canada in WWII as an infantryman, Charlie set his goals to become a master craftsman in Cabinetry, and to find the love of his life to share his world with. Charlie married Beetrice (nee Spetch) in 1946 and together they shared 67 wonderful years raising a family of two girls, exploring the many camping spots and fishing holes in BC, spending retirement years in southern USA, and finally settling in Surrey BC to be near their daughters. Charlie took great pride in creating something from nothing, building his home, boats, and anything associated with woodworking. He was a true outdoorsman with real passions for fishing and hunting. He is survived by his wife Beetrice, daughters Sharon (Roger) Upton, and Debbie (Don) Eldridge, seven grandchildren, Dan (Lindsay), Janine (Dan) Kamonzeki, Sean, Scott, Brittany, Jordan and Stephanie and two great-grandchildren – Alex and Lily. The family invites you to a service and reception being held Friday August 23rd, at 12:00 pm at the Ocean View Funeral Home, 4000 Imperial St, Burnaby BC, V5J 1A4. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the Kidney Foundation.
