Born on January 24, 1956, in Hoiping, China, Charles immigrated to British Columbia, Canada with his parents and siblings. He grew up in Vancouver, where he attended Vancouver Technical Secondary School. As a teenager, he developed a love for classic rock music, especially The Beatles, and enjoyed car cruises with friends and working on woodworking projects.
In 1992, Charles met and fell in love with his wife, Dip Sa (Lisa) Wong. Together, they built a beautiful life and raised three daughters: Jenny, Annie, and Helen. Charles took great pride in his family and found his greatest joy in spending time with his wife and children. He was deeply devoted to them—always eager to hear about their lives, whether it was their careers, school experiences, or friendships. He was known for taking time off work to celebrate each of their birthdays and cherished family traditions like Halloween and Christmas. His love was shown in thoughtful acts—bringing home their favorite fruits, attending sporting events, or planning for a future retirement spent traveling with his beloved wife.
Charles was a dedicated and hardworking man. He spent much of his career as a Bread Production and Sanitation Worker at Canada Bakery, later retiring from Island Bakery. Even after being diagnosed with cancer, Charles continued to work diligently until his retirement at age 65, beginning treatment only after fulfilling his commitment to his job. He faced his illness with unwavering strength, resilience, and optimism.
Outside of work, Charles found joy in woodworking—crafting shelves, closets, and unique inventions for the home. He continued to enjoy car rides, whether they were quick errands or day trips across town. Some of his most cherished moments were simple adventures with his family, including rides on the SeaBus to North Vancouver with his grandchildren and daughter.
Charles Wong will be remembered as a loving husband, devoted father, and proud grandfather. His kindness, selflessness, and quiet strength touched the lives of all who knew him. He leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and family devotion that will live on in the hearts of those he cherished most.
