Chiarina was born in Cosenza, Calabria, Italy in 1948 to Angelina and Domenico Fata (both predeceased). As a young girl, with her father already in Canada, she embarked on the long journey to Canada with her mother and sister Lina, landing at their final destination of Vancouver on Christmas Day 1955. Her sister Maria was born 2 years later, completing their family. She lived in Vancouver and Burnaby until her passing, meeting and marrying Guiseppe Marrone (predeceased) in 1968 and raising her family.
She will be deeply missed by all those that knew and loved her. She is survived by her two children: Michael, Teresa (Edward), grandchildren Alexander and Danica, sisters: Lina and Maria, sisters-in-law: Maria (Bruno, predeceased) and Filomena (John) and many nieces and nephews who loved and cherished her deeply.
Devastated and lonely from the loss of her husband of 38 years, she decided to open her home and heart to students from all over the world. She has shown such love and nurture to these young ladies, that many continued to call her mom once they returned to their respective homes. They have since expressed such grief and heartbreak over their loss. She has left her mark on the world.
Due to Covid restrictions, funeral and burial services will be attended privately by immediate family only.
In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to The Children’s Hospital or Covenant House.
