With sadness in our hearts we announce the peaceful passing of Chris Balatsas, who left us on the evening of Tuesday, September 24th, 2019 at the age of 87. Chris was surrounded by his loving family during his final hours as he had always wished.
Chris was born in Greece in 1932, and arrived in Canada in 1957, where he went through a learning curve and eventually ended up with his own automotive service business and ultimately worked for over 35 years. He procured a lovely home in Vancouver back in 1974, which the family still resides in today. Chris had lots of friends, and got involved with the Greek community of Vancouver, the Masonic Association, AHEPA, helped found the Greek Seniors Society and helped as much as he could in various other organizations.
He leaves behind his beloved wife Zoe Balatsas, whom he married in Greece in October of 1966 and soon after Zoe made the long journey to Canada and spent a glorious 52 years together, his youngest son Angelo Balatsas and his eldest son Jimmy Balatsas who is married to Chris’ daughter-in-law Mariko Balatsas. Chris lived a full life, and over the years as his family grew, he bestowed upon them his wisdom, love and admiration.
May he rest in peace, as he will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
