Dear Mom,  

I miss you a lot.  Lately, the same memory of you keeps coming back to me again and again.  It was that time you spontaneously started telling me some ancient Chinese stories.  I don't remember what those stories were about.  I only remember it was bright out when you started and you were supposed to go grocery shopping for dinner.  One story led to the next, and you got so animated with the storytelling that you started waving your arms in the air, and your voice began rising and falling with the tension of the stories.  And your smile got so wide your eyes thinned to a line.  I will never forget that smile.  By the end, it was dark, no grocery shopping has been done, and Dad probably got very hungry.  But the two of us were happy and satisfied.      
  
I love you, Mom.  You have taught me so much over the years and I would not have been who I am today without your guidance and advice.  You are my constant source of strength, faith, and love.  The care and support you have given me ever since I was little is something that I will never be able to repay.  I will try my hardest to make you proud.

Dear Mom,

Thirty-two years ago today you brought me into this world.  In the many years since you have never stopped nurturing me, caring for me, and loving me.  No one understands me as well as you, and you were always there ready to guide me.

I remember when I used to call you on the phone, you would always greet me and say, “Hello, good son” in Chinese.  In your eyes, I am exactly that: your good son.  I want you to know that to me you too are the most amazing and loving mother.

Thank you Mom for all your love.  I am so happy that we shared thirty-two wonderful years together.  I will cherish every memory that I have with you.  You will always be in my heart.

My dear Yin,
There were those days when you went shopping, you would want my company. However, you didn’t ask for my physical company for you knew that I would get bored quickly. Instead you would ask me to stick around somewhere nearby. Knowing that I was close by, you would become very relaxed and enjoy your shopping, sometimes for hours. Soon we coined a word for this arrangement: we called it ‘shadowing’. Thereafter, you would ask me to ‘shadow’ you whenever you wanted to go out and I would happily oblige.  I would have a cup of coffee at a McDonald’s or a coffee shop nearby, reading a book, playing Sudoku or simply enjoying my quiet moments while you shopped. I missed those moments.

Now that I would be doing my shopping on my own, would you shadow me? I know you would, whatever I do, wherever I go. I know I won’t be alone for you would shadow me, just as I had shadowed you. You will always be with me, that much I know.

It came as such a shock hearing my beloved Sam Sum's passed away! Lots of memories of what Sam Sum did for our family especially when we were little are still vivid. Still remember so clearly Sam Sum dragged me to a shop and bought me a pair of leather shoes. Sam Sum and Sam Suk's generosity and care for us has touched our hearts, and we have always been deeply grateful for their love. Sam Sum was also the best listener I've ever come across. So many times lying in bed with me staring at the ceiling and listening to me moaning, Sam Sum was always patient and genuinely cared. And she gave me so much valuable advice since the first day I became a teacher. Sam Sum was such a great role model!

Dear Sam Suk, Kamson and Kammy, after mum passed away, there're times I feel the pain was just unbearable; but I remember thinking dad, Diana, Samuel and I still have each other always makes it a little less difficult. I'm truly sorry for your loss. Sam Sum was such a kind-heart loving lady and she's sorely missed!

I wish to express my condolences to the passing of Mrs. Lai.  She was an extremely caring person, not only to her friends and family, but to everyone in general.  She was a great role model and was loved by all.  Her smile and her confidence tend to immediately gain the trust of any person that she had just met, and that is some people skill that I wished to learn.  There needs to be more people like her in this world.  She made the world a better place.

Mrs. Lai's legacy as an all-loving teacher and mentor needs to be continued.  During her time, she had raised two great children, Kamson, who is extremely intelligent in Science and Kammy, who is extremely well-versed in language, and both are going to enjoy bright futures.  I believe that it is an incredible feat as a parent.  I wish that more people in the world can receive Mrs. Lai's encouragements and be touched by her never-ending positive attitude, with some of them becoming great scholars just like Kamson and Kammy.

Mrs. Lai will be sorely missed.  But on the other hand, true to her positive attitude, we should celebrate the fact that she had enjoyed a very meaningful and fruitful life, one that would be envied by most people.

I am saddened by the sudden passing of Yin. We met at a brunch arranged by the Louie's a few years ago. I enjoyed our conversation about our families. I am glad that our paths crossed. Be happy that she had left a great legacy behind in her family.May your family, friends and memories help you through this difficult time.

I am still having a hard time to actual admitting the fact that I will no longer be able to talk to Mrs. Lai anymore. 

To me, Mrs. Lai was not just a teacher/counselor, she was also a dearest friend, a member of my family.She was the person I turned to whenever I had a problem, and she was the person I wanted to share all my joy and happiness with. She was like a mother to me. She made me feel like Vancouver is my second hometown. 

Mrs. Lai, you will always live on in my heart and memory. And no matter where I am, whenever I think of Vancouver, you will always be in the picture.

May you rest in peace.

Yin was a dear friend to me. I have been very fortunate to know her and be her friend for many years. She was a warm, loving, great-hearted daughter, wife, and mother.

Yin and I first met at work in St. John High School. Everyone called her Mrs. Lai, and she was the teacher every student turned to when they needed help. The students loved her, the parents trusted her, and her colleagues respected her. She always had the endless patience to listen, to explain things, and to encourage the students in their studies. She helped many students with difficulties to be well developed individuals. She was the best of best school counsellors I have ever worked with.

Yin was a wonderful and successful mother. She had two well raised, outstanding children. She helped me to be a better mother too. I remember that we sometimes talked for hours and hours about our parenting joys and challenges. We shared our thoughts and feelings. I learned a lot from her.

Yin was a naturally dedicated person. Anyone who was lucky enough to be close to her, benefited from her love, her unique talent for understanding, and her simple, easy-going personality. Yin never complained. Even when she was unwell, she was most concerned not to "bother others".

Yin achieved an amazing life, tragically cut short. She was well-loved. Yin will forever be missed and live in my heart...in our hearts.

It is always so sad to hear of one leaving this world at such an early age. Why God has called his angel home we may never know but  we can be thankfully for having known Chui Lin.

Dearest Mrs. Lai, 

I really miss you. You are my Vancouver mom who's always there giving me endless support and love. Remember the umbrella you gave me on my graduation? You said it represents you, always be there no matter it's raining or sunny.  

And i know, you will be there.

We are still shocked and devastated about Yin's sudden passing, a good friend to the end.  We will never forget how she had always enjoyed being in our company.  We can still hear her laughter as she and Kam willingly participated in new experiences as our guests (ie. dancing, pub nights, dining out, Cancer relays/walks, etc.).  It really warmed our hearts when she constantly thanked us for sharing such great times with her.
Kam, my heart goes out to you, your kids and grandma.  Kamson and Kammy both did their mom proud yesterday with their tribute.  You and Yin did a great job raising them.
It will take a long time for everyone to get over this great loss but, eventually, we will all have to find the strength to carry on.
Take comfort with all the happy memories you have with each other.  We are glad that we have photos of Yin enjoying good times with us....and we will always treasure those.

I can never forget the time  we have shared our past, present and future in the telephone conversations. We talked for hours and Chui Yin was always a good listener. She will be remembered forever.
Kam, we are saddened to hear about your loss. At times like this it is hard to know what to say or do. But we can say, in the most sincere way, that we care and are thinking about you. 
May God bring you comfort and peace.

I remember the happy days we had at St. Francis'. Yin's present, kind nature; her gentle smile and generosity are always kept in my mind. May she rest in eternal peace. May the hearts of Kam and his family be filled with wonderful memories of joyful times together.

It was with a great sense of loss when I heard of Chui Yin's death. I wanted to let you know that my heart is truly saddened. 

Yin was more than just a wonderful person; she was always so kind and considerate to us that we always welcomed seeing her at every opportunity. 

How I miss the time and family talk when we had light lunch and tea down at Wan Chai and Tai Koo Shing. 
 
Her passing will not only leave a void in our lives, but in the hearts of all those who knew her. Yin will always remain within my heart.

I remember the days, BEAUTIFUL days......that we spent together ever since we met at SFCC.  I can still recall how you offered me a helping hand
in TWGH SCHOOL  & Shue Yan.  I can never forget your smiling face and happy outlook........
