

Dong Won Ko, born in 1927, passed away peacefully on October 22, 2024, at the age of 97. He lived a long healthy life filled with love and joy. He was a devoted husband to Byung Ae Ko, a loving father of five, cherished grandfather of thirteen, and proud great-grandfather of eleven. Known for his joyful spirit and kind heart, Dong Won was deeply loved by all who knew him.
Dong Won lived a life full of adventure, resilience, and curiosity. A true world traveler, he explored many countries and gathered experiences that we all wish we stories that we could have heard. He lived through the Korean War and immigrated to two different foreign countries, chapters of his life that must have defined him. Despite hardships, he greeted the world with warmth and a radiant smile that lifted those around him.
A graduate of Korea University, he encouraged his family to value learning and hard work. His life took him from Korea to Argentina and later to Canada. As the only brother among four sisters, Dong Won held a special place in his family.
Dong Won’s faith in God and deep love for his family guided him in all he did. He will be remembered not only for his remarkable life but also for the love he shared with all who knew him.
His kindness, wisdom, and joyful spirit will live on in the hearts of his family, who always treasured and took care of him, and in the memories of everyone blessed to have known him.
A Viewing for Dong Won will be held Monday, November 4, 2024 from 4:30pm to 6:30pm - Location: Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 3789 Royal Oak Ave, Burnaby, BC.
A Funeral service followed by a graveside service will be held Tuesday, November 5, 2024 from 1:00pm (graveside service starting at 2:30) - Location: Funeral service: Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 3789 Royal Oak Ave, Burnaby, BC.
