September 6, 1926 – December 8, 2025
Doreen Gyles, 99 years of age, passed away peacefully on December 8 at Burnaby General Hospital, surrounded by loved ones.
She was born in Vancouver to William and Florence Robins, Doreen was raised in Vancouver and lived here all her life. She attended Kitsilano and Lord Byng high schools before going to work at Woodwards. She spent all 40 years of her working career at Woodwards.
Doreen was predeceased by her parents, brothers Jack, Alan and Gordon, as well as her two husbands William (Bill) Gyles and William (Bill) Watling.
Those left behind to cherish Aunty Dor’s memory are her nieces Sharon (Terry) and Margaret (Andy), and her nephews Christopher (Ken), Gary (Nancy), Bill (Lori) and Michael, great nieces Lauren, Victoria, Kaelah, Elizabeth, Chelsea and great nephews Marcus, Daniel and Nicholas.
A memorial service for Doreen will be held on January 20 at 11am at Lakeview Multicultural United Church, 1600 Cliff avenue, Burnaby,BC
