Piano playing was Dorothy’s lifelong passion. Many will remember her for her "distinctive style"— an amazing talent and gift she used to honour her faith while playing in church and touring with the Choraliers Quartet through remote areas of British Columbia, and on several trips to Russia. Beyond playing the piano, she involved herself extensively in many Christian ministries including Women Alive, Down on the Farm southern gospel celebration, and many women’s conferences. Through this, she enjoyed many decades of fellowship and laughter with enduring friends.
Dorothy and Ardin owned St. Clair dry cleaners in Vancouver, a successful business that provided for the family. Throughout her life, Dorothy was a superb and gracious hostess, but she also loved dining out and traveling with family and friends. She worked diligently for many years in her career with Chartwell Electronics.
Dorothy was predeceased by her husband, Ardin Norman Sovdi, in 1984. She is now reunited with him, as well as her parents, Rev. Joseph A. and Pearl Erickson; her brothers, Donald and infant Joseph; and her sister, Ruth Grasby. She is survived by her three children, Berva (Ed) Warkentin, Darrell Sovdi, and Marla (Jay) Perron, as well as eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Dorothy found great joy in the love and presence of her family.
Dorothy has been laid to rest near her husband Ardin at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Burnaby.
There will be a Celebration of Life on Monday, February 16 at 11:00 AM at Living Waters Church. 9095 Glover Road, Fort Langley, BC V1M 2R4
