Elena Zavarise

With heavy hearts we sadly announce the passing of Elena (Lena) Zavarise on the afternoon of July 29, 2017. Elena left us suddenly and peacefully surrounded by her loved ones. She was born in Montebelluna (Treviso) ,Italy and is survived by her loving husband, Amedeo; her sons, Daniel and Vinicio; grandchildren, Shaun and Priscilla and 13 nieces and nephews. Elena arrived in Vancouver in 1956 where she worked at Lecchi and Travelgar and helped her husband Amedeo at their shoe store " Smithe Shoe Renew" on Robson Street as a bookkeeper...and finally as a housewife. Mom embraced life to its absolute fullest with her fine dinners at home with many friends and enjoyed picnics, her evening walks with Dad and her flower garden. She was absolutely devoted to her husband, children and grandchildren and was the light of our family. We will all miss her terribly... a day will not go by without us thinking of her with love. She always made it a point to let the family know they were always loved and cared for.

A special thank you to the doctors and nurses at VGH hospital for all of their support and caring displayed during the last hours of Mom's precious life. Viewing from 6-8 pm on Thursday, August 17, 2017 at Ocean View Funeral Home with Mass of Christian Burial at 1 pm on Friday, August 18, 2017 at Corpus Christi Parish with Father Bruce-John Hamilton.
