It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Ernst Hofer on May 17, 2014. Ernst passed away peacefully at age 91 at the Belvedere Care Centre in Coquitlam, British Columbia. He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Marianna Hofer-Blaser; son, Paul; daughter, Ruth (Craig Paulsen); and sister, Lydia Keller-Hofer. Ernst was predeceased by his wife, Hilda (Avey), with whom he spent 28 wonderful years.
Ernst immigrated to Canada from Switzerland in 1951, had a strong Christian faith, and was active in the Salvation Army all his adult life. He loved family, travel and adventure, and lived life to the fullest with no regrets.
A Luncheon to commemorate Ernst’s life will be held at the Best Western Hotel, Coquitlam Room, 310 North Road, Coquitlam, B.C., on Wednesday, June 4th at 11:30 a.m. Friends are welcome to bring stories and pictures to help celebrate Ernst’s exemplary life.
The family is deeply grateful to the staff at the Belvedere Care Centre and Residences who took such good care of Ernst during the past 3½ years.
