Eva Ivana Fidel

Eva Fidel (nee Vintar) an inspirational lady who lived an incredible life passed away suddenly in the early hours of May 4, 2025 in the home she loved. Her soul mate and late husband Silvo was waiting with open arms to welcome her.

Eva is survived by her devoted son Edward (Ed), her siblings Angelina, Kristina and Ivan. Along with many other family members and friends locally and in Slovenia. She was predeased by loving husband Silvo and siblings Jozefa, Joze and Staneslav.

Eva was born April 20, 1932 in Primoz, Slovenia and as with many folks of that era her early life wasn’t an easy one. She immigrated to Canada for a better life and with the encouragement and support of her husband her entrepreneurial spirit flourished; with the assistance of her son she continued to oversee her business until her passing.

She will be remembered as a fiercely independent, quick witted, hardworking, ethical and tenacious business woman who was definitely ahead of her time. Eva was a life long learner with a joy and zest for living that was contagious!

Eva had boundless amounts of energy, tended to her garden and hosted the best dinners including her famous potica and strudel, the last one being Easter this year. She enjoyed a glass of wine with a good meal, and had an infectious laugh. She was an elegant lady who loved to dance and as a pivotal founder of the Slovenian hall it was her favourite dancing venue.

Her motto was “do what you always did and keep moving!” Eva was greatly loved and will be immensely missed by so many!
