

Gemma was predeceased by her devoted husband Giovanni, her son Joe, her son Jack and son-in-law Sam. Survived by her daughter Mary, her son Dominic (Louise) and daughter-in-law Lia. Dearest Nana to Orlando, Jaclyn, Daniela, Jonathan, John, Nicole, Jason, Anthony, Matthew & Cristian. She will also be lovingly missed by her great-grandchildren, her brother-in-law Tony (Debbie), many nieces & nephews and extended family.
Born on April 20, 1929 in Sannicandro di Bari, Italy, Gemma grew up in a close-knit community rooted in family, faith, and tradition. In 1962, she courageously moved to Canada with her husband and three young children, embracing a new beginning in a new country. A few years later, their family was completed with the birth of another child in Canada.
Gemma devoted her life to her family as a loving homemaker, known for her kindness, generosity, and the delicious traditional Italian dishes she lovingly prepared. Her kitchen was always filled with warmth and the comforting aromas of home-cooked meals, from handmade pasta to hearty sauces and fresh bread.
Gemma’s legacy is one of love, resilience, and devotion to family. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by her children, grandchildren and all who were blessed to know her.
A mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, November 13th at 11:00 am St Francis of Assisi (2025 Napier St, Vancouver) followed by Entombment at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Garden Mausoleum in Burnaby.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Gemma’s memory may be made to the BC Cancer Foundation.
