One of my favorite childhood memories of Uncle George was the time he dressed up as Santa Clause to hand out Christmas presents. He was a funny story teller too. His stories always made me laugh.  One of my favorite stories is of the time he and the family went on a trip.  "The boys brought $50 with them on the trip. They came back with...new clothes, toys, video games, sports equipment...and $50!" I guess he liked to spoil Andrew and Alan :)

I remember George was a great guy, since our days in Seria and at the boarding house.  He was rather cheeky as well. Every Saturday he looked forward to visit St Mary’s. May he rest in peace.

I have such fond memories of George from our younger days, both in Seria and at boarding school. We were neighbors in Seria, our parents both working for Shell, and we often hung out together at boarding school too. I especially cherish the photo of us having a great time at Baku National Park Lookout during one of our camping trips, and the one from our carefree days fooling around and showing off our chests after a swim in Bau Lake.
George was always so much fun to be around. He had a permanent smile, a great sense of humor, and was incredibly generous and helpful. It's a shame we never met in person after boarding school, but I'm grateful we stayed in touch through emails and WhatsApp. Please accept my heartfelt condolences. May he rest in peace.

George was my close boarding house friend at St Thomas Boarding House in Kuching in the 1950's.  We were part of the fun "Kitchen Gang of Six" that had boarding house kitchen privileges over extra snacks and food from the kitchen cooks! George was my big brother protecting me from bullies in the boarding house. George was a very kind and generous friend. He invited me to stay with his family in Seria over one of our Christmas holidays when we had lots of fun with his family and friends. The attached photo shows me standing next to George who is on the far right. Those were the good days. George, may you rest in peace with Jesus in heaven.

Philip and I had the privilege to be in Vancouver in 2019 and met the whole clan.   It was my first time to meet George and he was warm and he reflected a love for the family.   We met up for dinner and over a yum Cha lunch.   I thank God that we were able to catch-up there in Vancouver after talking about it for so many years .  George, may you now rest in peace now in the arms of our loving Father in Heaven.

Condolence to Alice, Alan and family. I met George when I started working at City of Richmond. George and I spoke Hakka at work. 

In the early 1990s, we bumped into each other with our family at Chinatown. Those days, we can only get Chinese vegetables and ingredients there. I met Alice, Alan and his brother on those trips.

We had a retirement party for George and Dave. It was called the Odd Couple retirement. Everyone had a great time.

Since my retirement, I have contacted the 'senior' retirees like George for lunch and was able to chat with him even though he is not available for the group lunch.

RIP George.  Farewell for now.

What will always stand out to me about Uncle George is how welcoming he was to me and others. On multiple occasions he told me I “was always welcomed in his home” and he meant it. Especially early on, those simple words meant the world to me as someone new to the family. 

Every time I was with Aunt Alice and Uncle George - weddings, birthdays or dinners at their home - they exuded warmth and generosity. He had a knack for lifting the room. Whether it was a funny story, or just a twinkle in his eye, he always found a way to bring a smile to your face.

Together, George and Alice modeled a loving and strong partnership - may we all follow their example of 50 years of marriage and strong family ties.  

Thank you, Uncle George—for your kindness, for your laughter, and for showing us what it means to be truly welcoming. You will be missed!
