Hing Fu

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our

beloved father, Siu Hing Fu. He entered eternal rest on

December 23rd, 2025 at AgeCare Carlton Care Home in

Burnaby, at the age of 100. He was born as the third child on

October 13th, 1925 in Jiaolongwan, Yangjiang of the

Guangdong Province.

In his youth, he accompanied his father in managing the

family business, leading a stable life. He then relocated to

Guangzhou, and eventually to Hong Kong with his elder

cousin and fifth brother. From his humble beginnings in scrap

wood collection and plastering, he worked tirelessly to start a

wood crating business, and later a joint venture with friends to

produce toy clothing. Always striving to provide the best for

our family, he brought us to Canada in 1988 in search of a

renewed future.

Our father was an industrious, lifelong learner; although he

received limited access to education, he proactively integrated

himself into life in Canada. After attaining citizenship, he

would insist on participating in every electoral vote. Though

he was not formally taught English, he would often greet his

neighbors and friends with “Hello” and “How are you”.

Our father loved family life, adorning our yards with vibrant

flowers, as well as freshly grown fruits and vegetables. He

would take to home repairs personally, from sink repairs to

roof maintenance. Most of all, he enjoyed filling his home

with the company of loved ones, inviting family and friends to

dine together, with meals lovingly prepared by our mother.

As we mourn the loss of our beloved father, may his diligence

and sincerity towards loved ones serve as our inspiration

always.
