

James Wah Fu Woo passed away peacefully on January 20, 2017 at St. Michael's Hospice in Burnaby, BC. He is survived by Mae Ying, his wife of 53 years; son Stewart, daughter-in-law Pinky, grandkids Jonathan & Stephanie; son Ronald, daughter-in-law Anne, grandson Alexander; son Glen; daughter Susan.
Born in Hoiping, China, on August 13, 1934, James moved to Canada as a teenager to be with his father in Saskatoon where he learned to be a cook. He went back to Hong Kong in 1963 to marry his wife, Mae. The couple moved to Prince George, BC, at first, then eventually set up roots in Smithers, BC where they owned and ran the Northern Star Cafe for over 30 years.
James finally retired in 1995 and enjoyed the simple life with his wife until finally moving to Burnaby to be with the rest of his family in 2005.
James was an extremely proud and private man. He will be honoured and missed by his family and friends that truly knew him for his humour, patience, knowledge, wit, and generosity.
