There were three muskateers, Jean Banfield, my mother, Mary Ellen (Carrick) and Jean Schaffer and they palled around like a permanent fixture. Jean was God Mother to the middle sister, Anne. When I was old enough to think for myself, I came to know Jean in a "Wow!" sort of way because unlike my Mom who was always "working" at one thing or another whether it was at the office, or in or around the house, Jean "Bowled!" She was a leader of many bowling tournaments, competitions and championships. It blew me away that life could be more than chores, it could actually be thrilling fun and Jean proved that to me over and over.

My grandma, Nana B, will be missed. I have tons of happy memories of her coming to Indiana, teaching me to write cursive and type on a typewriter when I was young, and when my family visited her in BC.

My mom (her daughter), my sister, and I spent a week with her when I was young in BC and took a tram to the top of a mountain and played and had delicious food.

She was always so loving and caring and such a positive person. From my end, with a family that is scattered across Canada & the US, she made sure her love made it's way to all of us.

I'm sure she's above us all playing golf right now.
