Jessie Wing (née Chan)
15 September 1939 - 17 June 2019
Jessie was born on 15 September 1939 in Suva, Fiji. She moved to Vancouver, Canada on 26 February 1965. This beautiful city became her beloved home for the rest of her life. She later met the man who would become her life partner and husband, Jim Wing. They married on 16 August 1980 and were very happy together until his passing on 5 August 2009, just shy of their 29th wedding anniversary. Despite this great loss, she carried on with the support of her family.
Those who knew her knew she struggled with mental health issues. Despite this, Jessie always saw the best in people and trusted others deeply. She was very generous and supported many charitable organizations. She felt a serious responsibility to do her part in supporting organizations that helped others.
Jessie leaves behind many relatives and friends in Canada, Fiji, UK, Australia and the US. She is survived by her three siblings and their respective families: Maize, Rudy, Paul and Robert Witt; Watson, Joan, Hazel and Hiram Bourne, Tyson, Patty, Jamieson and Tiana Chan, Adrian and Byron Chan; Simon, Vicky, Tyler and Brittnie Chan.
While we grieve the loss of our sister, aunt and great-aunt, we take comfort in knowing that she truly is resting in peace. Thank you for your support at this time. It’s something we hold close to our hearts and provides a measure of comfort to us as a family.
