SCHOFIELD, Jack With great sadness we announce the passing of our dearly loved father Jack Schofield, on April 8, 2011, aged 88 years. Dad was predeceased by his wife of 62 years, Margaret in 2007, and his sister Gladys and brother William. Dad was born in Moose Jaw, Sask., in 1922 to Ethel Gallinger and E. James Schofield. Dad joined the RCAF in 1941 and served in England in the Coastal Command as a Pilot Flight Officer in 415 Squadron, where he met Mom who was in the WAAF. They married in England in 1945, after the war they settled in Vancouver and moved to S. Burnaby in 1952. There they have happily raised 7 children: Sue, Ward, Betsy, John, Trish (John), Pam (Bruce), and Pete (Dan). They also leave 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Dad's business career started with '˜Jack & the Beanstalk' ' Beanstalk Sales, in the 1950's, his first of many ventures, leading to Visual Information Systems, still in business since 1972. Dad and Mom loved fishing and exploring around the Cariboo Lakes, and also driving trips through BC, the Island and the Pacific Northwest. They were both avid gardeners, and bird and animal lovers. Dad volunteered for and supported a great many charities, particularly those protecting Canada's wildlife. Our father was a wise and gentle man, of high integrity and subtle humour, though puns were a speciality. He got much pleasure from fishing, and a good crib or bridge hand always put a twinkle in his eye. The family would like to thank the wonderful doctors and nursing staff of Burnaby General Hospital for their care. A Celebration of Jack's Life will be held Saturday, April 16 in the chapel at Bell & Burnaby Funeral Chapel, 4276 Hastings St, Burnaby at 1 pm. All family and friends are welcome, and also to the family home following the service. We love you Dad, and will miss you every day. Together again with Mom.
