EULOGY FOR JOSEMARIA PALMA MANRIQUE

Thank you all for being here today, to pay respects to my Kuya Jomar.  For in this moment of sadness and despair, the family is truly comforted by all the love and condolences you have given us through this difficult time. 
My Kuya (which for those who don't know is brother in Tagalog) was a great person to be around; he was always able to put a smile on a face regardless of the situation. He was a very caring person and showed it in many ways; he was able to connect people and was always putting the needs of other first. He lived his life in charity of others and even to the end he was able to donate his organs to help 6 other people. 
Kuya lived his life, the only way he knew how. Every single person here was touched by his exceptional gift to feel like you knew him for a long time even if it was only for a moment. He had an uncanny ability to make you feel special and stretch those moments into lifelong stories and even leave an expression or a saying that would be ingrained to your memory for days on end.
Being an immigrant family, my father always told us when we first moved to Canada that “we needed to take care of each other no matter what.” My brother took this to heart and excelled in raising me to the person that I am today. He always pushed me out of my comfort zone, to be more outgoing, to excel in my studies and would say, “Always push yourself and do better than me.” Those words were and will always be hard to live by.  
For those from the outside looking in, not many of you would know that my brother and I had a very tumultuous relationship to begin with. Being the younger brother I always felt like I had to prove something, to show that I belonged. This would always start the fights, some would lead to punches being thrown but at the end of the day he was my brother and I love him. Many fights and bruises later on, we eventually became really close and became best of friends. I was able to say to him that he was always the one I looked up to and he was the one I would talk to about everything from homework, career choices, girls, sports and things that would annoy both of us, we would just vent our emotions and at the end all would be well again.
As I was writing this and looking for inspiration his room was full of his different hobbies from comics, music, technology, gadgets and even his beloved Canucks. In only 26 years he has accomplished so much achieving a degree in mathematics, a degree in chemical technology and was on his way to finish a degree in chemical engineering. Always the student, he was always learning about everything under the sun. He was an exceptional musician, being able to play a variety of instruments and was able to inspire and invoke happiness to people that listened to him play. I was one of those people, He was the inspiration that made me want to learn an instrument, seeing him play with my dad and all the cool songs that they played made me want to do it to. I will miss playing with him and our band will never be whole again.
To only count his collection of degrees and hobbies would do a disservice to the kind of person my Kuya was. It is in the collection of people who is here today and those who has shown their love and support through this time that my Kuya should be remembered by.
To put everything my Kuya meant to me and all of us would be an eternity of grief and Kuya would not want us to be sad today. Even though there will always be a hole in my heart yearning for him. I believe that his memories will live on in all of us and I take comfort in that. Kuya Jomar was and will always be my best friend and an incredible brother.

This is the hope that we have in our Lord Jesus Christ.  Through Him we can look forward to being united with our loved ones for all eternity.

To Peachy, Lito & Family, our Deepest Condolence to you and our prayers are with you knowing that God is always with you all at this time when you need the strength the most...

A lot of times we think that death is the end of everything we had in our lifetime but the truth is, as a believer of our faith and of course a follower of  Jesus He proved to us that there is LIFE beyond after his death.  With all your faith trusting Him all the way to the end---- there is so much to remember about your son Jomar than  losing him, because you didn't.  God bless your family.

Hi Kuya Lito, Ate Peachy; I am always thinking about you. My Prayers for you and your family. May the Good Lord give you more strength in this time of sorrow. May Jomar Rest in Peace. Bless His Soul....God Bless You All!

We are with you in your sorrow and we feel your pain.  Jomar will always be part of our family, he will forever remain in our hearts, and we will continually cherish the many happy memories.  It was difficult to understand God's will and why our sweet Jomar was called to our eternal home in heaven at such a young age.  But we need to remember the many blessings; we need to deepen our faith in the Lord, and continue to trust in him. We are grateful and blessed to have known Jomar, thank you our dear God for sharing Jomar in our lives, we will truly miss him.  

We honestly admire and respect your whole family for being great parents, a brother, and a sister to our ever-loving Jomar.  We care and love you, and we will be here for you.  May you find strength, peace, love and hope during this time knowing that you are being thought of.  May God bless you all!

Dear Lito and  Peachy,  Emil and Jasmin,

Wish I could be an angel,with a thousand wings to embrace your family at this time.  I cannot understand and am sure you have asked the same questions.WHY LORD? We asked for a miracle, we believed Jesus has power over life and death, we believed JOMAR has a future to live a life of ministry for the lord..and now in the springtime of his youth, life has been snuffed out.
Why? Why, why?  At the moment we have no answer, everything is darkness,  But pls. rest assured that you are not alone..I pray that the everlasting arms will hold you tight and that  you would hear His voice..  "I will never leave you or forsake you..".

Only He who is the Alpha and the Omega.  Can answer  our why's.  One  day He will give the answer.  I pray the day of answers will be revealed to  you soon.  Meanwhile I place you all into the Chalice of His offering , in the moment of the  Eternal Now..where there  is no past  or future and all is present  and in this Present ..you will find  Jomar's presence.., vibrant and alive.

God took a beautiful soul,on the bday of His own Mother Mary,Sept.8, to let it rest in His loving arms forever!

Thank you, Jomar, for giving a beautiful life to your most loving parents, Lito and Peachy, short as it may have been, but truly a meaningful and purposeful life it was!..as you shared your many God -given talents, especially your gift of music, to your Parish and the LOJ community, pursuing further your studies as you took on a Masters degree in Engineering, a role model to your siblings,Jasmine and Emil! You warmed all our hearts in the short time that we have known you!..

Now, that you are at peace in His loving embrace, how befitting it is, and truly a blessing to know that on your 9th day,Sept.16,you will be celebrating your 27th bday, making beautiful music together with all the angels and saints in the midst of your Creator! Indeed!what a beautiful way for a beautiful son like you to be celebrating your young life with Him in eternal joy and heavenly bliss! Life goes on, with Him, forever..We take great comfort in this..Inner peace and strength, in the midst of the loss..

I heard that your loving parents are even thinking of donating your organs, so others in need may be given a new life and strength. Even in death, you give joy and life to others who will be blessed with the donation!

May the angels now take you on their wings, to fly you back to your Creator.. Eternal rest grant unto your soul,Jomar and Have his mercy and forgiveness. Amen.

Lito and Peachy, we may not be around to be with you at this time of your grief since we are leaving tonite for Manila, but all our love, prayers and continuous support go to you..I personally could not sleep yesterday,and tonite as well, as I have been thinking and praying for Jomar and God's strength to be with you and the whole family. Thus, I took this time early in the morning, 3am, to honor your beloved son,Jomar, and keep touch with you in your grief. I remember clearly that on your way to the airport yesterday, when I had a good chance to talk to you on the phone, you said that you have "surrendered" him to the Lord., accepting whatever happens to Jomar...I was a bit taken aback, but in retrospect, it says a lot of your own formidable strength and faith in God! Great faith indeed endures  great trials!..You have raised well a good son and even in grief,you are most accepting in faith of His will..We truly honor you,, Lito and Peachy, for being great parents to you loving son,Jomar!

Your pain and loss are ours as well, as we walk with you, each step in this unforseen and most unexpected journey! a mother's grief, a father's loss of his eldest son..a brother's loving embrace to his sister and younger brother to be truly missed..it seems so unbearable!and painful!

We take great comfort in His Peace and His Mother's Loving Embrace .He did not abandon you. Jomar waited for you, to hear your voice and prayers ,your whispers of love,and feel your touch,in a most loving ,deepest way..A beloved son waiting for his beloved parents' loving embrace and prayers..until his last breadth.

See you when we get back,Lito and Peachy, but in the meantime our prayers are with you all as we journey with you in spirit, until the last day of the wake and thereafter..

Our Dear Bro. Lito, Sis. Peachy, Emil and Jasmin,
 We share in your sorrow and we feel your pain. We pray that God will sustain your family in this most painful time . Jomar is like a son to us and we felt we've lost a son and a brother too . It took a while for us to accept that our dear and sweet Jomar is gone. It is really difficult to understand God's will, why He has to take the life of such a sweet and loving man. But it is our prayer that we will all not waver in our faith and continue to trust in our Lord.; for God has promised that everything will work for the good of those who love God and are called according to His purpose .(Rom 8.28) God loves your family so much especially Jomar. It will never be the same for you and for the many of us in LOJ without Jomar. The days ahead will be difficult but we will all be here for you in love & prayers . Bro. Lito and Sis.Peachy, you have always inspired us on how you raised Jomar and your children. Jomar had a tragic death but God designed it to be; for all your friends to join your family in prayer. Everything was on a standstill for all of us for two days . All our thoughts and prayers were focused in storming heaven with prayers for Jomar and your family and all these prayers did not go in vain. It may not have brought Jomar back to life but a GREAT MIRACLE HAPPENED . The outpouring of love for Jomar and your family. All your friends and even people who don't know you have expressed their LOVE to join us in prayers for the last two days until now. These prayers have strengthened you and protected/defended Jomar from all the evils that surrounded him on his deathbed and prepared him to meet his Creator. Now he is at peace with our God. Now you have an angel in heaven watching and praying for us all. Another miracle was - it gave HOPE to everyone that there are still many good and Godly people and when things get bad, they come forward as what happened to those motorists who helped in the rescue. Reminds us that there is still so much good in the world."

Thank you Jomar for the time you spent with us during our stay there in Canada. We've seen places there with you, providing us with some funny stories you experienced during your first visits on the places. Your funny ways and infectious laughter, we'll never forget that!
