It is with very deep sadness that we announce the passing away of Jun Cathy Chan (nee-Manson) after her long and courageous battle with cancer on Saturday, November 20th, 2004 at University Hospital in Vancouver B.C. She was 53 years old. Nicholas, Vincent and Ellie were by her side when she peacefully passed away.
In Vancouver she was lovingly cared for day and night at the hospital by her cousin Ellie and in Hong Kong by Ellie and her other cousin May.
The family thanks Ellie and May from the bottom of their hearts for taking care of Jun and making her feel as comfortable as possible during the last month of her life. A very special thanks goes to Jun's sister Margaret for having Jun stay at her home. Margaret put her busy schedule aside and flew to Hong Kong to bring Jun back to us.
Jun is survived by her son Nicholas Chan and her long time partner, Vincent Kwong. She will be remembered by her eldest sister Ada, husband Terry and daughter Natasha; her second eldest sister Helen, husband John and daughters Racquel, Ursula and Pamela and Helen's grandchildren Ken and Giovanni; her third eldest sister Margaret and daughter Alexia; her older brother Albert, wife Theresa and children Magnus, Darcy, Brennan and Tala, and her younger brother Peter, wife Minette and children Sean, Stewart and Tiphany.
Jun will be missed and cherished by her estranged husband McCardle; Aunties Mei Mei and King; cousin May, husband Dennis and sons Kevin, Justin, Henry and Harry and her many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews in Hong Kong, Australia and Scotland.
Her very close friends Ahkeung and Karen and their family were always there for Jun and a great comfort for her in her time of need. I know Mom appreciated all the visits from her friends.
Thanks also to Dr. Patrick Lee, his wife Elizabeth and their children and the wonderful healing provided by their nieces Linda and June.
Mom was a beautiful woman inside and out and she lived her life to the fullest. She will be remembered in our hearts forever.
Her Buddhist funeral ceremony was held at Forest Lawn Funeral Home in Burnaby, B.C., November 29th. 2004.
